Premier League Golden Glove: List of Winners

Each year, the Golden Glove is awarded to a goalkeeper in recognition of his outstanding performance throughout the Premier League season.

Each season, the Premier League Golden Glove is awarded to the goalkeeper who records the most clean sheets, recognizing outstanding defensive performance. A clean sheet refers to a match in which the goalkeeper and team successfully prevent the opposition from scoring any goals.

The award, introduced in the 2004–05 season, has undergone several name changes due to sponsorship agreements. From 2004–05 to 2015–16, it was known as the Barclays Glove. Between the 2017–18 and 2019–20 seasons, it was referred to as the Cadbury Golden Glove. For the 2020–21 season, it was branded the Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Glove, and from the 2021–22 season onward, it has been called the Castrol Golden Glove.

Originally, the Golden Glove was awarded to a single goalkeeper each season, with ties settled by the best clean sheets-to-games ratio. However, starting from the 2013–14 season, goalkeepers who finish with the same number of clean sheets share the award, regardless of how many matches they played.

Petr Čech was the first recipient of the Premier League Golden Glove in 2005. He still holds the record for the most clean sheets in a single season, with 24. Čech is also the only goalkeeper to have won the award with two different clubs—Chelsea and Arsenal. Alongside Joe Hart, he has claimed the award the most times, with four wins each.

Pepe Reina was the first goalkeeper to win the award in back-to-back seasons, achieving the feat three times consecutively from 2005 to 2008.

In the 2008–09 season, Edwin van der Sar set a new record by keeping 14 consecutive clean sheets, surpassing Čech’s earlier streak of 10.
